CAPRICE
A midi-length sleeveless dress with spaghetti straps, featuring an elasticated back detail for a comfortable fit. Crafted from a cotton-silk blend fabric, this dress showcases a vibrant multicolor allover panel handblock print. it also comes with an attached handblock printed lining.
Motifs inspired by the diverse floral elements of Amer were first translated into hand-drawn watercolor paintings. These designs were then meticulously adapted into hand-carved blocks, carefully considering the limitations of the medium. The play with negative-positive space, color separation, and outlining led to both singular motifs and intricate, multi-layered repeats. As many as 80 small and large wooden blocks were used to create pattern repeats for a single garment.
