AUTUMN WINTER’19
“What if fairytales aren’t as innocent
as they sound and even princesses
aren’t perfect?” - Nikita Gill
The AW’19 collection is visualised as the story of three sisters I met in the idyllic Aru valley in Kashmir—Zeenat, Aabu and Sairat. They seemed to me as feminine, beautiful, fearless and wild. The sisters lived in their charming home in the valley, a quaint little cottage. The beautiful view of the snow capped mountains and the lush green valley framed the backdrop and every once in a while, the wind would carry the distant sounds of the valley.
I imagined the girls walking through the valley looking for surprises, coming face to face with serendipity, in the thick of the untamed wild for a life of wild adventure beyond the comfortable confines of home.
I painted a picture of the sisters having a day of adventure out in the valley. I gave them colorful clothes, ornaments from their mother’s treasure chest, long airy robes and layers, and hair befriending the wind, wandering the countryside, uninhibited and unhinged.
