KEIKO
A full-length tiered skirt featuring intricate all-over pintuck details and functional pockets. Crafted from 100% linen, it features a vibrant multicolor handblock print, where 17 distinct handblocks are carefully combined to form a unique, panelled design.
Motifs inspired by the diverse floral elements of Amer were first translated into hand-drawn watercolor paintings. These designs were then meticulously adapted into hand-carved blocks, carefully considering the limitations of the medium. The play with negative-positive space, color separation, and outlining led to both singular motifs and intricate, multi-layered repeats. As many as 80 small and large wooden blocks were used to create pattern repeats for a single garment.
